5 tips on how to create your vision board

For a lot of people, including myself, going into fall season feels like a fresh new start. I guess it goes back to when we all came back from a long summer break when we were kids, levelling up one grade, and I guess that same energy sort of remains when get older. During this period of the year, I oftentimes feel excited to reflect on goals, set intentions and get into the habits I want. Since a few years back, I always make a vision board as part of this process. It’s such a cozy exercise, where I get to sit with myself and be creative and it always leaves me with such excitement within me. Being visual is so important and really helps us to fully visualize our dreams. Don’t forget that!

This week, I created my own vision board (image above). I decided to keep it quite shortsighted and fill it with things that truly excites me and gives me a nice feeling right now. So with that, I thought I would share my tips and tricks on how to create a vision board:

  1. I always start thinking about what areas in life I want to be captured on the board. Should it be my overall life, only focusing on career etc. Sometimes I write down the key things I want to be represented, maybe a trip I want to go on, a career goal, things I want to eat etc.
  2. Sometimes I find it difficult to come up with the goals, and what makes it easier for me, is to imagine the woman I want to become and then ask myself questions connected to that. A few examples of that could be:
    • How does she feel?
    • What is she working with?
    • What is she wearing?
    • Where is she living?
    • What places is she travelling to?
    • What are her hobbies?
  3. As a true Pinterest fan, I already have a board where I add random things that instantly lit me up and feels ‘dreamy’. This board is my starting point when looking for images. Sometimes I even skip going through my goals, since my images oftentimes already represents my goals to some extent. I select images that instantly gives me a good feeling and lit me up. If I’m hesitating about the image, it’s a no.
  4. I always use a combination of images and a few powerful quotes that aligns with my vision. I find that it gives another dimension to the board than only having images, but that’s just my view. You should create something that aligns with you.
  5. Last but not least, I want the vision board to be present in my life – I want to look at it every now and then to remind myself. Therefore, I normally print it on a paper (since I always do a digital vision board). I also create a background on my phone, which I look at way to often 😉 Where would you put your vision board?
