For many years, I’ve been wanting to go on a retreat but I’ve always thought it’s too expensive to spend that on myself. However, this year I had enough of this limiting belief and I joined my first retreat early this spring. Little did I know that I was going to attend three (!!) retreats within 6 months time. And when writing this, I just came back from The Soul Space retreat, which I spontaneously decided to attend during my last week of summer vacation. The Soul Space retreat is beautifully located in the north archipelago of Stockholm, and it’s managed by Josefine and Karl Dyall – an inspiring couple where the passion for these retreats truly shine through. I attended their retreat called ‘Soul 1’ and it was a special experience full of different types of meditation, yoga, dance and reflection. Having experienced three retreats now, I can for sure say that everyone does it in their own way and you get new things with you every time. After this retreat I feel so inspired to incorporate some of the practices into my own feelgood practice, especially when it comes to meditation in different variations.
Reflecting upon the retreat experiences I’ve had this year, there are three key things I’ve learnt / got reminded of:
1) Investing in yourself is such an empowering feeling. Making myself my number 1 priority doesn’t only help me, but also helps me to give to others in a better way.
2) Being quiet with other people is actually a very nice feeling and we as human beings have a tendency of talking just for the sake of it. On all the retreats there have been quiet hours, and it’s been so nice and helpful to really tap into myself and my own thoughts.
3) There is not one size fits all solution – we all have to find the techniques and practices that helps us and the retreats have really helped me to explore what those ingredients are to me.
So, if you’ve ever thought about going on a retreat, maybe this is a sign for you to book that as a treat for yourself. If you have any questions, please let me know, I’m happy to share more of my experiences.
Lots of love ❤
