Sunday SELF-CARE guide

Do you like Sundays? I’ve had periods in life where I’ve dreaded Sundays only because it means that it’s almost time to go back to work again. Ugh, that is such a bad feeling. Luckily, I don’t feel like that any longer, and today I truly enjoy Sundays. For me, a good Sunday should be focused on self-care and feelgood. I try to build my Sundays with two things in mind 1) helping me get the relaxation I need before a new week 2) preparing myself for the new week ahead.

Let me take you with me on what a Sunday could like like in my life to truly fill my cup and end the week with a smile 😍

  1. SLOW BREAKFAST
I absolutely love starting my Sundays slowly with a cup of coffee and a magazine or book in the bed. After waking up a bit, I like to make a nice breakfast, maybe my easy 3-ingredient bagels with some nice topping such as scrambled eggs, some grapefruit and more coffee. Sunday breakfasts are best enjoyed in front of a TV show – preferably a home renovation program to get inspired or ‘I badrumskåpet’ with Hairtalkbyemelie.
  2. WALK & SLOW ACTIVITY
Some fresh air is always needed, so on Sundays I love to get some comfy sporty-chic wear on and get out for a long walk. Maybe I pop by a café, a farmers market, a flea market or why not a refreshing swim and sauna. Simply something fun and nourishing to nurture my soul, get my inspiration flowing and enjoying some time just being.
  3. READING
Reading is a favorite hobby of mine, and on Sundays I normally make room for some longer sessions of reading. Cuddling up in the sofa with a blanket, a nice cup of coffee is just SO nice. I really try to make it as an intentional thing where I think of the entire setting to really romanticize the moment. Ideally, I’ve bought a nice cardamom bun at the local bakery, or I’ve made any of my healthy twists on sweets e.g. my two-ingredient brownie that I enjoy while reading 😉
  4. GROCERY SHOPPING & MEAL PREP
I love to bring out my cookbooks to get some inspiration for the coming week’s cooking. I make a list of the things I want to cook and then I go grocery shopping – there is no better feeling than a newly filled fridge before the week starts, love it. Once done, I like to do some meal prepping for the week. I’ve been quite bad at this lately, but the past few weeks I’ve started to do it again and I truly enjoy it. I usually prep breakfast and some things that will save me time throughout the week. I oftentimes listen to a podcast meanwhile doing it and time truly flies.
  5. REFLECTION
Every Sunday, I take a few minutes to reflect upon the week and write about my highlights, but also my low points, my learnings etc. This really helps me to be grateful for the things I’ve achieved and experienced throughout the week, but also helps me to learn more about myself and my feelings. Once I’ve reflected, I plan my coming week and add my goals for the week. For about 6 months I’ve used the Head Plan, where you set goals within six different categories each week and I think it really helps to look holistically on life.
  6. ALL THINGS SHOWER & COZY DINNER
Last but not least, creating some space for self-care is well needed. I like to take a long shower, do a face mask and get into my comfiest pajama, cook a nice dinner – ideally a good pasta (Sunday pasta have become a bit of a tradition at home, and I love small traditions like that). ❤

What’s your favorite thing to do on Sundays? Would love to hear ❤
